2002 Radio-Coteau Syrah Timbervine - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (11/14/2009)
Looks like I had a bottle of this about 1 year ago. Popped and poured and accompanied a porcini/fontina fondutta with egg and a side of maple/ginger roasted vegetables.
The wine is dark in color and sports a very rich nose of blackberry, iron, olive with a slight floral characteristic. The palate is still rich, full bodied and silky sporting more rich blackberry, vanilla, grilled beef, white pepper and bright violet characteristic. Finish is medium in length. Just terrific and while we consumed it over 3 hours I didn’t notice much change in the wine leading me to wonder if at some point (maybe 5-7 years from now) the fruit may just drop off and fade away…doesn’t matter this was my last bottle and I thought it drinking perfectly!! 92-93/100 (92 pts.)
