TN: 2002 Lanson Champagne Gold Label Brut (France, Champagne)

2002 Lanson Champagne Gold Label Brut - France, Champagne (7/25/2015)
I have tried this wine twice now, and my reaction is consistent. This is a good wine, and enjoyable to drink. That’s it. It’s not terribly interesting. It has good flavors (lemon, pear, a bit of toastiness), but no real spark.

About 10 years ago, the house was pouring at Zachys and I had almost no champagne, so I bought an assortment. They are all gone. My general overall impression is the same as yours. They were good. Nothing to complain about. The 1989 vintage of the top level I bought, which I drank in 2006, qualified as “outstanding” in my mind, but my note goes on to say that it is not at the top level. That’s the way I felt about them generally, not being at the top level. Since I do not buy a lot of champagne and am thus relatively selective, I have not sought them out.
