TN 2002 Jim Barry Lodge Hill

In honor of Rich Trimpi…from my earlier days in the hobby, found this bottle in the back of the unit. Opened with leg of lamb. I remember serving several bottles with a Super Bowl feast in early 2005 (not so pleasant memories of the Eagles crashing) and it being a wow but superficial big wine. At age 12 1/2, this wine still has big fruit but has mellowed and has some supporting acidity and secondary flavors to avoid the insidious blueberry syrup comparisons. This is a really pleasant drink, taken on its own terms, and a surprising and fun reward for holding a $15 wine for 12 years. I would be happy if I had a few more, though my Australians are down to about a dozen bottles at this point after I hand-carried several cases from a visit down under in 2000.
