    Pop & Pour, natural cork. Color is a dark translucent ruby. Nose reveals red cherries and eucalyptus. Palate carries the red fruit profile, with crushed cherries and tart cranberry, pepper, and finishes with mouth-watering acidity. With some air the slightest hint of oak begins to linger on the finish. An elegant, well-balanced wine which is holding up to its age quite nicely.

Huh…say whot??? “Elegant/well-balanced” at 15%+ and from Amador?? Can’t be true!!! [snort.gif]
Glad to hear this wine is holding up well, Larry. I think most of the grapes for this came from ChetEschen’s old vnyd
there in Fiddletown. Bill Easton is probably the best winemaker up there in the ShenandoahVlly these days.

Hi Tom - haha I guess sometimes miracles happen [cheers.gif] I actually found a few bottles of this in the cellar and the previous one was kind of dried out/pruney which I feared didn’t bode well for the rest. I never know if it’s bottle variation or my own palate in a weird place, but this wine showed a lovely cranberry hue and palate with bracing acidity.

As far as alcohol goes, I generally don’t check the listing on the bottle; I use my wife as a gauge instead, and she seemed pretty subdued. I’ve gotten better results from higher alcohol wines [snort.gif]

We drank thru nearly a case of Easton’s 2000 Merlot over the last year or so. Very good stuff. Not sure of the ABV, but these wines were nicely balanced, with some interesting rusticity. We really enjoyed them.
