TN: 2001 Roger Sabon Chateauneuf Du Pape Reserve

Popped and poured. HEAT on the nose.
Came back to this 30 minutes later with dinner - an excellent spinach and mushroom lasagna. Wine was improved by the pairing but still seems imbalanced and awkward. Very spicy notes with some medicinal qualities. A little bit of licorice that was pleasant. Thankfully the food was awesome as I was disappointed by the vino. 1/2 a bottle left, we’ll see how it drinks tomorrow.

Aaron was this the Cuvee Prestige?

Hi Roy! It was just the Reserve bottling.

Thanks Aaron. I have not had that and only 1 of 3 bottles of the Cuvee Prestige so far, which was a nice bottle. Your lasagna dish sounds great, although it is too hot right now to try that. We don’t have central air in most homes here in the PNW.
