2001 Pahlmeyer Jayson - USA, California, Napa Valley (9/14/2009)
Paired with Bryan Flannery 35 day dry-aged NY Strip Steaks. Opened about 1 hour prior to dinner. This is drinking very well right now. Nice ripe blackberry and plum fruit with lots of chocolate and cocoa powder and a little underbrush/varietal greenness to add some complexity. Nicely weighted with decent acidity, good texture (albeit just a bit grippy), and a medium length finish. Don’t know if this will get any better…at the same time it seems to have plenty of life left too. Just sneaks into the “Outstanding” category. (90 pts.)
