TN: 2001 Kay Brothers Shiraz Block 6 Amery Vineyards

  • 2001 Kay Brothers Shiraz Block 6 Amery Vineyards - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale (3/9/2011)
A very nice Shiraz. The nose was a blend of dark berries with a strong waft of toasted oak. The first taste was pretty much the same as the last taste - deep, rich, ripe fruit with a hint of tar and smokey barbecue. This wine was outstanding - just didn’t have those layers of flavor and a finish that takes wine to the highest level. We had this with focaccia pizza and grilled portabellos. (92 pts.)

Great note and nice to hear.
I just received some from WB and am anxious to give this one a try.

Pizza huh? Nice. [cheers.gif]
Thanks!

I really enjoyed the '01 Hillside (a younger vine version) and the '02 Block 6 is dynamite, though I would age it longer before drinking.
