Back from my cruise and we had a bottle of the 2001 White Cap. Approximately 3 years after I had my last bottle of this wine and I have to be honest, not much has changed at all. Still just a masterpiece and my favorite single bottle of wine.
This wine is still very vibrant, smooth, and bright. Was a yellow hue. What I would call a lemon color. Not clearly more of a white/yellow and not a deep yellow. I am not great with specific flavor notes but I can say the wine has plenty of acidity left to balance the sweetness. Just an extremally balanced and enjoyable bottle of wine for Riesling fans. I think this could be cellared for years to come if it is cellared correctly.
This was a pleasure to have and blessing to drink with my wife. Also thanks to Andrew K for finding me a bottle of GK to replace this one :). To me, you can drink this now it is wonderful or you can wait even longer and it will likely still have plenty of life.
