TN: 2001 Domaine Valette - Pouilly-Vinzelles "OOO" (France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Pouilly-Vinzelles)

NOSE: very odd/interesting nose of pineapple, dried regular tooth paste, oak, and hints of leaves and lees; moderately expressive. Day 2: pineapple has turned to green pear; an alcohol presence that wasn’t there on Day 1; otherwise, pretty much the same.

BODY: medium bodied; very small bit of superfine sediment in the bottle; golden yellow color w/a touch of green mixed in.

TASTE: good fruit/mineral balance; still tastes very young; good mid & rear palate acidity; a bit stemmy, but not tannic; rich, but not fat, with lightly tropical flavors and a hint of green olive on the finish; healthy dose of oak; a bit flat, but still has what I can only describe as the typical white Burg finish; the short finish (15 - 22 sec.) is not intense, but has an intriguing personality nonetheless; dry – not bone dry, but mostly dry; front and back(importer) labels not consistent w/r/t alcohol: 14%/13.5%, respectively; kind of comes across as being half CA, half Burg.; weak rear palate. Day 2: still solid, but more boring than yesterday.

Day 1: B: 50, 5, 12, 15, 7 = 89
Day 2: B: 50, 5, 11, 14, 7 = 87
