TN: 2001 Domaine Georges Mugneret/Mugneret-Gibourg Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots

Thought I would post this as it really exceeded my expectations.

Another bottle of this at the Kittle House. This bottle even better than last.
Dark ruby. Very fragrant nose on this bottle. Black cherry and spice with decent acidity and mineral spine running through. Moderate to long finish. A great surprise that went really well with the hanger steak. (92 pts.)

Nice note. I would have expected this to totally rock. This is a great wine to me. The sisters really do a terrific job with all their wines.

I still have most of my case to go thro yet but the bottles so far have rocked. I am surprised that you were surprised by how good this was.

Dan,
I had a bottle from the same cellar back in Decmber. That bottle was very good. For whatever reason, this bottle was significantly better. Thus it did exceed my already high expectations. Now I need to go see if I can find some for home.

Don’t have any 01 but just got in a couple each of 99 and 98.

Looking forward to them based on your note.
