- 2001 Château Sociando-Mallet La Demoiselle de Sociando-Mallet - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc (8/16/2024)
Now that I have a love for Sociando-Mallet (thanks, @Robert.A.Jr and @Mark_Golodetz !), and recalled the most memorable Sociando-Mallet bottles I had (both 'regular' and Cuvee Jean Gautreu) were from the 2001 vintage, I nabbed a couple of these from auction, given the relatively few notes I've found on Demoiselle on Wine Berserkers.
Definitely a 'family resemblance'/house style on this wine - loaded with coffee on the nose, rather typical Haut Medoc earthy style, Dark red cherry and cassis fruit still present, though a bit dried at this point, good acidity and powdery tannins remain as well, but I think the wine definitely had better days a few short years earlier.

I think even the 2001 SM is past its prime. I loved this vintage of Sociando Mallet but my last experiences weren´t as wonderful as former ones. The wine has lost intensity and shows signs of age. IMO.
I had my last bottle of 01 SM in 2022 and quite loved it, only left a brief note of ‘amazing’ on CT
It’s @Robert.A.Jr ’s ‘wheelhouse wine’!
