2000 Giacomo Grimaldi Barolo Le Coste - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (9/6/2016)
Drinking well. This bottle had more of an oak note to it than I remember from the previous bottle (91). We drank the first half the first night and the second half tonight. The second half was poured in a screwcap 375 and essentially slow O’d for 24 hours. Wow! What a change. Now the oak is gone, the sappy red fruits come to the fore, everything is in balance with lovely acids and tannins all in harmony. Very long finish. Upping my score to 93. I have 3 of these left. It will be interesting to see how they evolve over time. (93 pts.)
