TN: 2000 Edmunds St. John Los Robles Viejos Rozet Vineyard

Steve Edmunds. Is there a Mount Rushmore of CA wine? If so, put him on it.

Can’t believe it’s been 8 years since my last bottle. This still shows the iron, meat, and herbal-anise notes. The fruit seems more red, sweeter and fuller now. Seems to be showing more grenache now, with a pepper finish amidst the sweet fruit. It has moments of brilliance before it begins to fade a bit and become somewhat one-dimensional. Been a good ride, and this is still a good glass, but drink up.

Yep. Still a tasty drink, but not going to hold on much longer.

Thanks for the tasting note!!!

What’s the mix of grapes – grenache and what?

GSM and a touch of Counoise.

Supposedly GSMC 21/30/45/04.

The 2000 LRV has never been the thoroughbred that is the 2001.

I agree, I like both but the 2001 was my clear favorite of the two. I might have one bottle left.
