Happy New Year’s Day, Berserkers!
No, this is not for breakfast, though that would be very fine indeed.
Was a treat to have this wine in a small group setting and next to the 2013 Dom normale. Last year we popped the 2008 Dom Rose and P2 Blanc, so had that in mind as well. While this may sound trite, and perhaps amusing coming from me, but this P2 Rose has a Burgundian flair. A mature champagne with a crisp mousse present but more balanced, showing some attractive, fuller-bodied still wine features. Elegant and aromatic. While the 2013 Dom was all about the yellow and white fruits and flowers, the P2 Rose was more in the orange and red citrusy spectrum. Pink grapefruits and blood orange in particular. Such a beautifully balanced and appealing champagne. A very unique one as well. Paired so well with a range of sushi courses. Really handled the wasabi kick quite well.
