TN: 2000 Château La Fleur de Boüard

2000 Château La Fleur de Boüard - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Lalande de Pomerol (8/6/2013)
This is certainly drinking well, and while it still shows more oak than I would prefer, it also has a great depth of flavor with not just ripe fruit, but also meaty accents. Still has plenty of everything (including some tannin) to keep going and even improving for quite a while longer as well. Quite impressive for a very modern right bank wine.

Good to hear it, especially after my modern right bank low level 2000s were not well received in this thread: So you want to talk about Bordeaux? What should I do with these 2000s? - WINE TALK - WineBerserkers. I will be trying a few this weekend.

Jay, I suspect those wines are going to be just fine. I had a 2000 Pipeau the other night that showed better than any prior that I’ve had. Look forward to your notes.

Love the 2009 La Fleur de Bouard, great QPR.

Some of these ultra-modern right bank wines seem to be holding up and developing quite well. Others not so much. I also have the 2000 Fombrauge, and it seems to have largely cracked up.

I never liked that one, so I am not surprised.

The 2000 Fleur de Bouard is a wonderful wine. The 1999 was damn good, too. I blew through all of them, popping my last 2000 about 2 years ago. That last bottle was perhaps the best, and I kicked myself for not having (1) bought more and (2) held on to some a bit longer.

The 2001 FdB is very good as well.
