An ancillary benefit of opening this wine last night is that got me thinking about my 'ol buddy Bob Fleming who haven’t hung out with in what seems like a long time.
Hi Bob- Hope you are well

2000 Arcadian Syrah Robert O. Fleming Cuvée Garys’ Vineyard - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Lucia Highlands (12/20/2014)
Terrific Northern Rhone-ish nose that is peppery, meaty, and floral. Smells great. Palate, unfortunately, falls a little flat. The fruit is here, but it lacks an edge, some acidity to liven things up. The wine turns a bit grape-y with air. It’s a good wine. I’d happily drink it again. But it doesn’t quite reach the heights of some of Joe’s other wines. Maybe it’s a 2000 thing, I don’t drink enough CA wine to know.
