1999 Taittinger Champagne Brut Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne- France, Champagne (6/11/2010)
This wine needs more time. Creamy notes of nougat, green apples, and ripe pears. Still showing significant oak and yeast. After being open for a couple of hours, the wine explodes with richness and tangy orchard fruits. But should be a stunner in a few years. 93-94 points. (93 pts.)
This changed over the evening, with our last glass at the end of dinner some 3 hours later or so. Lovely balance between fruit and acidity, and went from some nice stink on the nose at the start to a complex wine at the end. Outstanding. (95 pts.)
