1999 Pride Mountain Vineyards Merlot - USA, California, North Coast, Napa / Sonoma (8/19/2009)
Big wine with a huge attack of red licorice, boysenberry, cinnamon, mocha, and wood smoke. Time has tamed this wine a bit so you don’t have to just have it for dessert but like breaking a wild stallion, it has lost some of its uniqueness. Still classic Foley. (92 pts.)

I opened the 99 Pride Mountaintop Merlot yesterday Randy. This was a limted release small bottling of top lots. Yours sounds better. It had a funk to it that I really couldn’t get over. Nice fruit though.
Pride, Pride, Pride…your palate will turn bad if you keep drinking all that crap. Time for you to drink some BDX.
Actually, on day two it was pretty nice. i am drinking up the Prides. I have 150 bottles arriving in November that I don’t presently have room for. Most are French.
Even though I don’t drink a lot of domestic Merlot, I have always enjoyed Pride. Good to see that they are aging well enough.
