TN: 1999 Morisfarms Maremma Toscana Avvoltore

1999 Morisfarms Maremma Toscana Avvoltore - a preliminary note - this winery shows up as Moris Farms and Morisfarms, but the latter is the name used by the winery today. This is a blend of sangiovese, cab sauv, and syrah. Medium colour and with a fair bit of sediment, the wine has a nose of cassis fruit and espresso and it is medium weight and medium length. Purchased on release 20 years ago, it is now fully mature and may be tending toward genteel middle/old age. Still drinks well, though. Thought I had drunk my last bottle a couple of years ago but found this and it hasn’t changed much since the last tasting.

Never had one this old but have enjoyed all that I have had. Looks like I have some 2103 and 2015 in the cellar.

Do let us know how they stand up when you do try them!

This bottling was consistently good when I tried the first few vintages. Think I cellared a few but none more than ten years.

2009 is drinking great now. I’m sure it could go longer, but for me, I don’t see it getting better.
