TN: 1999 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Charmes-Chambertin

Not a producer I had any experience with, but picked up some of this and the 2008 Corton-Rognet locally at a good price. Glad I did, as I was impressed by this effort.

Very expressive nose of raspberry, mocha and cherry with just a hint of spice box/sweet tobacco. The palate dances between perfectly ripe raspberry, black cherry and blackberry, which are supported by a bit of earth. So dense in flavor, yet so bright, light and lithe. Fine tannins add a welcome bite before the long finish. Very enjoyable now, but needs at least 5 more years, maybe 10. (93 pts.)
