Opened this to pair with my great homemade Eggplant Parmessian.
60% Cabernet, 30% Merlot 10% Syrah.
Very smooth and clean entry. The immediate nose is of cab like aromas of cassis, dark berry and fragrant herbs. Palate is smooth, complete with everything in very good balance.
Tannins have fully integrated and the fruit is still present and lovely, but I sense that its best days are very slightly in the past. I have no complaints, but would drink them if I had anymore. I debated opening the 98 Tignarello but chose this wine instead because I suspected it would have a slightly shorter life. Overall a very good choice and a very lovely super Tuscan. The syrah’s only note perceived was a slight rasberry note of the palate that was a minor yet pleasant component.

Good wine. Too bad I killed mine early on before I knew any better. Costco had these on release back in the day for a good price IIRC. Went through three bottles probably four or five years ago.
I understand Tex. I bought and went through a case very early of the 97 that was a terrific wine. I had three of these, this being my last. It has aged very well. I bought them when released in 01 for $57.00. They are still available at auction for that range.
