1997 Silo Cabernet Sauvignon Silo - USA, California, Napa Valley (9/19/2009)
12th wedding anniversary wine tonight…an old friend and controversial darling wine, from the WCWN days…use to be Savannah-Chanelle, and pretty much a one hit wonder in 1997. 12 years later…still as I remember! Very dark garnet, slight pink/orangish rim. WOW…total sediment…in my first glass??? Very Bordeaux-like…tight and dry fruit(currants, blackcherry,plum) structured and somewhat complexed with pencil, leather, green olive/tobacco, nice blackberry liqueur, coffee grounds. Still pretty spicy, and dries out quickly. Always reminded me of a young Bordeaux from 1999. Not as super tasty as it use to be…but hell, for a 12 year old no name cheapo…pretty respectable! (90 pts.)
