TN: 1997 Louis Jadot Santenay Clos de Malte (France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Santenay)

Nose: Sous Bois, forest floor, pine needles, weathered oak

Palate: Starts with crunchy bright red fruit, comes on strong with balanced oak, forest floor, peat and tar. Great balance in a strong, masculine forward approach that transforms into a beautiful, almost feminine finish of tar and rose petals.

Very special bottle indeed. This blows away the previous bottle. A+!!! Hitting WAY above its weight. Thank you Bacchus!

1997, no less. Thanks for posting.

Jadot did quite well across the board with the '97s from what I have read/recall. Only had tastes of a couple, but they were good. This is the type of wine you can pick up for a song if you can ever find it. I love those type of wines.

I got these for $35 earlier this year. Stored since release. Amazing deal. Hard to believe it is from this vintage and from Satenay

Malte has a good rep. But '97 …
