TN: 1996 Dunn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley (USA, California, Napa Valley)

Popped this wine when @David_Baum was in town 12 days ago. It was corked. I was bummed.
When have you ever seen vvvthisvvv happen?

Pulled the cork poured a small taste, swirled, took a sniff… Corked! Poured a glass and we kept checking in on it as the evening progressed but I just couldn’t get past the TCA and we moved on to other wines. 12 days later I look and there’s still a bottle of Dunn on the countertop off to the side. I start pouring it into the sink. Then stop and take a whiff of the bottle. No TCA. A lot of the wines character had fizzled obviously but where the hell was the TCA? I’ve never seen this happen, ever. It only gets worse.
Kinda bummed I hadn’t checked in on it sooner, like last week.
    Totally miffed. (NR/flawed)

I remember sniffing it and getting a little bit of what you were getting, but just being uncertain if it was completely corked. I thought there was a chance somehow it just needed time to blow off, but that you were probably right so I never even took a sip. I wonder what I would’ve thought if I actually tried it?

Hard to say. I just can’t get over the fact that it wasn’t still infected. TCA doesn’t blow off, it blooms like brett.

This is one of the only Dunns I’ve ever had.
I bought a bottle on release from my local wine shop because of the storied reputation. Not knowing any better, opened it a couple weeks later, LOL.
It was like chewing on toothpicks.
