TN: 1996 Domaine Laleure-Piot Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Les Vergelesses

Nose: red and blue fruits, hints of cedar, blueberries, twigs

Palate: Red/blue fruited, strong acids, slightly candied taste (that went away after an hour or so), a hint of tar, integrated oak and a longish, smooth red fruited finish.

A nice wine, but not a “Wow” wine. Some nice secondary notes have emerged. There is enough fruit left to balance the acids. Solid B.

Even better day 2. Wood is totally gone and forest floor and mushrooms have arrived. Nose includes just a touch of sous bois.
