TN: 1994 Schloss Schönborn Johannisberger Klaus Riesling Kabinett (Germany, Rheingau)

Nose: Peaches and petrol

Palate: Melon, pineapple, with a hint of peaches and petrol with great acidity and good mid-palate. Nice, but somewhat curtailed finish

Overall: Very nice place. Great flavors and acidity. Solid B.

I’ve been really enjoying all these late-release bottles floating around. Here’s a couple of my recent notes on this wine.

1994 Schloss Schönborn Johannisberger Klaus Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Rheingau (4/20/2013)
Sweet and light floral nose. Bracing acidity, very steely today and mineral. Nice wine, again. (90 pts.)

1994 Schloss Schönborn Johannisberger Klaus Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Rheingau (4/5/2012)
Pretty golden color with a honey and floral scent. Tasted dry and with a smooth acidity; mouthfeel was somewhat viscous with the palate reinforcing the honey scent but without sweetness. Very good wine, bigger bodied, more textured, and reliant on acidity than younger kabinetts. (90 pts.)

Thanks for your notes Doug. I also must say it was quite dry. Your notes are right on point with what I tasted. I did have one corked bottle so far (out of 3 popped).
