Very pretty ruby-amber to gold color. The nose has some musty wood with some oxidized ripe prune and a touch of smoke. (This lessened as it warmed from fridge temp). Reminiscent of a tawny port. On the palate there is some lively fruit still evident, but masked with the old wooden casks quality. Some apricots, with a dose of honey, and a bit of the canned peaches others have found. Some lemon zest, and some butterscotch pudding notes. A great mouthfeel and over-all, very clean and pure --nicely sweet wine with a great balance and intense attack. A very long and elegant finish completes this one. Very nice, but loses points and appeal with the addition of the mustiness/tawny port qualities. $22 per 500ml (88 pts.)
