TN: 1992 Henri Bonneau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve des Célestins

Popped and poured last night for a small group of CDP geeks. This bottle showed far better than another btl from the same source 2 weeks ago. Could it be the other bottle got too much air? More likely just btl variation as this particular btl was still great near the end a couple hours alter. This btl was almost a carbon copy of a btl we had back in mid 09. It exhibited facinating minerally damp earth aromas all night long. The palate while not overly fruity still came accross very fresh with lovely dark fruit and spice flavors. Just a great experince and I’m so delighted that this blt not only did not let me down but, rocked. That said it does seem pretty optimal right now and not likely to improve. If I had more I’d be knocking them down and enjoying the ride. (95 pts.)

Glad it showed well Craig… gives me hope for my remaining few bottles. I thought the one we opened a few weeks ago was excellent but just a bit tired.

Thanks, Steve for checking in. I really liked this blt a lot more than the one at In Season. That btl was good but this one was memorable… again like the blt in 09.
