TN: 1992 Alain Hudelot-Noellat Chambolle-Musigny

  • 1992 Alain Hudelot-Noellat Chambolle-Musigny - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny (2/15/2018)
You inhale a rose garden with your first sniff, all freshly tilled black earth and petals. There is a smoky meatiness to the wine and it is sweet and vinous in the mouth. It is very much red fruited and there’s plenty of sous bois development. Length is nothing amazing but all you have to do is take smaller, faster sips to elongate it. Delicious stuff.

nice technique. Nice note. A red vintage I passed in. Thanks.

I bought zero bottles of '92 red on release Alan, but whenever I see them pop up I buy them. They are pretty, elegant and aging really nicely.

And until recently, pretty cheap too. Unfortunately I think the word is out.

Yeah,

Been banging on for a while how good '92’s CAN be…

Not to say that every '92 is going to actually be good, but having said that, I still haven’t had a bad one!

I’ve only drunk two bottles from this vintage, both from Domaine Leroy - the Nuits Aux Allots and Clos Vougeot. The Nuits was delicious, and the Clos Vougeot a revelation.
