TN: 1990 Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays

  • 1990 Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru (11/26/2014)
Quite big smoky lift to the nose. It has some roasted meat action along with notes of strawberry conserve, coffee, leather, brown spices and tobacco. It is full, sweet and vinous in the mouth with relatively soft acid and freshness provided by some tannic grip on the finish.

Jeremy – You need to hold off posting notes like that till after the close of business in New York. You’re making me thirsty.

It’s only breakfast time over here John and I’m making myself thirsty.

Which begs the question: Did you drink this with breakfast today or dinner last night?

Jeremy, you do not have to answer that question.

With the coffee note in the wine I could probably find an excuse to have it with my bowl of muesli in the morning. It was however consumed with dinner last night.

You missed a chance to establish a new benchmark for Aussie drinking achievements.

Jeremy, that sounds superb. I’d happily have one of those with my breakfast cereal (non-work day of course!).

I was wondering if Aussie breakfasts could outdo Tucson lunches. [welldone.gif]

Is that the difference between Kiwis and Aussies – Kiwis would only have this for breakfast on a non-work day?

[basic-smile.gif] John, you have to draw the line somewhere. I actually thought this was a continuation of the Burgs with every meal thread. [cheers.gif]

A true breakfast Burgundy would deliver bacon (brett) and eggs (hydrogen sulfide).

fantastic note as always Mr. Holmes
