In prep for heading to Piedmont this week:
-
1990 Comm. G.B. Burlotto Barolo Monvigliero - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (5/4/2014)
A beautiful lifted nose with a green-herbal side that I would suspect was the stems. The Dujac of Verduno. More on the savory side of Nebbiolo with some porcini, and oddly even some cured meat to balance out the more expected barolo tar and roses. This is mid weighted , but deceptively powerful and with the tannins starting to soften. This has excellent palate presence. Lithe but not light, very well balanced and coming into its own nicely and would likely be better in 5+ years. Lovely understated barolo. 93 pts (93 pts.)
