1990 Altesino Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli - Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino (12/10/2022)
Wish I had more. Akin to the previous note, the seepage was just short of top capsule, yet cork well intact and pulled NP. Two hour bottle decant then poured and its opaque ruby with burnt orange at the edges. The nose offers tart cherries, a baking spice note, earthiness, slight magic marker, and faded wafts of vanilla. Loving it. Front is a smooth rush of [not tart] cherry, mushrooms, clay-like earthiness, smooth as can be. The middle splashes a still vibrant acidic note that's not over-powering. The back integrates with a soft tannin texture, everything coming together to fade gently to what feels like a delightful dry black tea and potpourri. There's a lot to unpack here, its soooo good, everything in harmony. At peak, happy I pulled the cork.
