TN: 1989 La Lagune, Medoc. Cabernet stamp. Gritty and rustic in demeanor. Blocky, sort of closed in. With time, I like the cigar box on the finish. A punch of black cherry. A good, but certainly not great La Lagune. $40. 88 points.

Arv, that word may not have been quite apt. I did not mean gravely by saying gritty, I meant resolute and determined, maybe not very giving. The wine was smooth enough on the palate but rustic in its overall impression.
