TN: 1987 Chappellet Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Signature

  • 1987 Chappellet Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Signature Reserve - USA, California, Napa Valley (5/17/2010)
12.9% AV. Fill is up into the neck. Cork broke in half and crumbled so had to decant.
Very dark crimson color. Subdued but lovely nose of blackberry leaf, licorice, black cherry and graphite. Medium body, with just hints of flavors–blackberry, licorice, tobacco leaf, sage, and minerals–nice complexity. Not so deep but decent length, barely any tannins, lingering, wet finish. A dead ringer for a Pauillac. Very fine. (92 pts.)

Thanks for the note. I opened my last bottle of 1991 over the weekend and it was drinking very well, probably at peak.
