- 1986 Château Beychevelle - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien (4/22/2024)
Drinking beautifully. Still plenty of cassis fruit. A suggestion of tobacco, capsicum and mint. Direct and contained. Lovely balance. Clean but savoury on the finish and still some chew.

Thanks I recall a Beychevelle from 81 I think - was quite minty, showing perhaps the Cab Franc component but lovely composed wine.

Had a beautiful '85 year before last. Such balance and light on its feet, with exceptionally pure fruit.

Love the 86 Beychevelle, but it’s been a while since my last bottle. Sounds like it’s still going strong.
80s Beychevelle = a happy place.

Great effort. I had my last of 6 bts. last year, still fine.

I owned a case. It drank beautiful as a baby and went to sleep for a long time after that. Had some disappointing bottles during the dormant period. But then the wine came back to life and is still fine today.
