TN: 1986 Allias Pere et Fils Vouvray Moelleux Clos du Petit Mont

  • 1986 Allias Pere et Fils Vouvray Moelleux Clos du Petit Mont - France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Vouvray (5/1/2011)
The cork was saturated, but in good shape. Golden yellow. Secondary nose showed mushrooms and earthy notes. Crazy and intoxicating. Off dry and medium bodied, the palate was mouthfilling honeyed apples and pears. Like many aged Vouvrays, completely disparate from the earthy nose. This still showed a high level of acidity and was fresh and delightful. Good length which showed some sweet citrus notes and just a hint of herbal essences.

Another aged Vouvray, another great showing. Along with German Riesling, possibly the best qpr wines in the world. This drank like it had years to go. A WOTY contender.

Where did you get this odd ball? Was this a Garagiste offer? I am a little jealous, I have opened several older Vouvrays recently that didn’t show well.
