Have the day off from work, so popping a bottle early and watching some films:
-
1985 Château Haut-Bages Libéral - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac (1/15/2010)
nose: quintessential pauillac on the nose with all sorts of pencil lead, cedar box, rich dark red cherries, leather and spice box. Excellent depth and is extremely well balanced
taste: really good medium body with well balanced and layered tones of Dark red cherries, sour cranberries, pencil lead, leather, and some bits of earth and cedar that lie underneath. Some fine grained tannins lets themselves be known, but this is certainly mature
overall: Fully mature and extremely elegant. Has a regalness to it showing off some of the pauillac power but also having a refined sense to it as well. This was double decanted for about 45 minutes before drinking (91 pts.)
