TN: 1983 J. Vidal-Fleury Gigondas (France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Gigondas)

A beautiful bottle. The colour was still bright and inviting. The nose was quite delicate, with the scent of wildflowers and berries. There was a touch of leathery development and earth too. The palate was mid-weight and silky, with something sweet and vinous at its core. There was a seaweed-like brininess to the finish.

The best wine I had last year was a Bruno Thierry Cote Rotie 1969. Apparently it is a negociant arm of Vidal Fleurie. Been looking for older vintages of both ever since, but the good ones seem rare.
