Greg at Envoyer had a mailer about 6 months ago that blew out a BUNCH of old california cab. I picked up a case of assorted stuff from the 70’s and early 80’s and they have all been spectacular. The person he bought it from had kept it very well.

    Drinking great. Opened up over a hour and picked up this beautiful soft fruit and tobacco with just the right balance on the back end. The tannins have fully integrated into a fine grain. Still can go for a bit! Love me some older cali cabs. Had a 79 recently that was great too.

Have had a lot of excellent bottles from Jordan, including an 05 this past weekend. But, Charlie, not a Napa cab! ( though they’d probably take it as a compliment)

this is the wine we had at our wedding in 1986. A bottle last year was still showing beautifully. And the people at Jordan are wonderful, too!

Charlie, are you aware this is a Cab??? Not burgundy? Since you seem to be getting so many things wrong these days, probably pre-marriage terror, I thought I’d point that out to you too…

Hang in there… you’ll survive (not sure about the safari, though).

Is the 81 the legendary Jordan? There is supposedly one vintage where they made an epic wine.

Thanks for the note. Picked this up as a birth year wine off WineBid about 6 months ago for around $50, glad to hear it’s holding up.
