1980 Robert Mondavi Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve - USA, California, Napa Valley (5/22/2011)
Drank with a good friend at the Smith and Wollenski in DC. Opened and decanted about 15 minutes prior to drinking. Deep red in color. Nose of mint and creme de cassis. Tasting showed some dried cherries and even some plums. The wine continued to evolve in the glass - a great deal of sediment was noted in the bottle - but the sommelier did a great job. This wine has evolved well considering what some of the experts had predicted. I have been quite lucky with the last 2 bottles from S&W - a 1991 Mondavi Reserve last year and the 1980 this year.
