TN: 1979 Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru Les Beaumonts

  • 1979 René Cacheux-Blée Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru (8/3/2014)

The 1979 Les Beaumonts was orangy brick to the rim, while the nose was classic and deep, with layers of complex, prunes, truffles and showing a bit of dirt from the forest floor. The palate had amazing acidity fully enveloping the now-aged—but still delicious, truffled and gamey - fruit. Ending with a great, long, finish that just lingers. A fantastic experience!

sounds gorgeous!

Sounds great, Barry.
Love when older bottles from lesser known producers (at least to me) kick ass.
Cheers.

This is the type of note that I need to help me keep my paws of my Burgundy. It needs time!

For me also an unknown producer who owns Vosne 1e Cru - Suchots and Beaumonts. This bottle was from auction for a nice price and turned out be fine. This domaine is imo off the beaten track and great value …

Several recent '79s have surprised to the upside. Seems to be a sleeper vintage.
