TN: 1978 White Burgundy

1978 Justin Patriache - Meursault: Cuvée Jean Bernard

I fancied a decently mature white with fair acidity to pair with my fish soup and fillet of halibut. I have drunk bottles of this rare white before. They have ranged from fully mature to surprisingly fresh, as have their fill levels. This bottle has the best fill level of the parcel.

Popped and poured, no alcohol % on the label. Bright mid gold. A nose of depth, with nutty nuances intertwined with ripe grapefruit. The fresh palate has a good weight to it. Waves of ripe stone fruit persist on my tongue and finish dry. This bottle is fully mature and with no hint of oxidation, a treat.

thank you

very cool. Love the vintage in red but don’t know much about the whites.

Yum! Sounds like a real treat.

Very cool Panos.keep on rockin.

I had an excellent 78 earlier this year, Jadot Le Montrachet. Easily the best of this flight. Glad your bottle turned out so well - what an experience to get a lively 37 year old chardonnay.

Finally drinking real wine (Burgundy). neener

All Greek to you?

Panos, Nicos, they both look the same. newhere Both studs.

We are all brothers after all.

Nice to see you posting about a 37 year old Burg on our special occasion. Sal and I celebrated 37 years of wedded bliss on Wednesday, Nicos.

Nancy, what a coincidence! My hearty congratulations to you and Sal.

Very cool, is there a picture of the wine in the glass for color?

Yes, it is the fifth photo in my original post.

Weeeeird…only the bottle to cork showed up on my phone the first time.

I believe the last photo in the OP above is the wine in the stem.

On another note, is this the preferred source of a lot of Rudy’s wines?
