TN: 1978 Chateau Lascombes (Margaux)
I fancied a mature claret with Sunday luncheon so I chose this pristine bottle that I had owned for a while. Bottle number 71034, alcohol 12.2%. The cork came out cleanly in one piece. A deep strawberry red, the rim is terracotta. The nose is dry and hints at forest floor with a hint of green pepper as well. The medium bodied mouthfeel is smooth and dry, with a fresh and clean length. The finish is clean and ends pleasingly. This fully mature bottle paired well with the meal. I will be drinking my remaining bottles over the next 3 years.
