1978 Chante le Vente (Marc Reynaud) Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (12/13/2022)
Starts off with some cheesiness and a palate that is a little astringent. With air it improves measurably. There are notes of leather, spice, decaying flora and plummy fruit. It stacks on a bit of mid-palate flesh and has good savoury nuance. Some astringency still remains at the back-end but it is an engaging wine that is most enjoyable finishing with some soy sauce saltiness.
