TN: 1975 Château Beau-Séjour Bécot

1975 Château Beau-Séjour Bécot

Opened by Allred at his 50th birthday dinner from magnum. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Decanted 3 hours before serving. I thought the 1975 Sterling Cab which was also opened was superior. This was the lowest scoring wine from this estate that I’ve had which includes the 1998, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2009 and 2018 but it was still fun to drink. This wine had some earthy red fruit notes but was a bit vegetal. Holding up well overall but obviously drink now. 88 points.

I had this wine exactly 10y ago with a friend on his anniversary - from 0.75
Good - interesting but a bit past apogee, nice drink though, acidity showing

I had this from a magnum about 3 years ago and it was fantastic given the vintage. still showing some fruit which totally surprised me.

Glad that this 1975 finally softened up enough to be enjoyable!
