TN: 1967 Oderro Barolo - did it suck?

Nope sure didn’t.

Simply one of the best Barolo’s I ever experienced. We had two different 67 Barolo’s last night and this bottle was in perfect condition with great fill level and the cork can out in one piece.

The tar, smokey meat, big mouthfeel was all there. This amazing 43 year old exceeded all expectations as we celebrated a friend’s 39th birthday. I believe Provenance is everything with these old wines and based on the quality of the label, the cork and the fill level, no doubt this wine was properly pampered throughout it’s life.

The wine gained weight over time and kept getting better and better. We savored every glass. Truly a great wine experience!

Simply an awesome Barolo experience. Thanks to those who provided excellent insight on how to serve it etc. I appreciate it

Glad it showed well. I carried a bottle to recent Berserkerfest that was maderized, But others who got bottles from same source (CSW) had good results, at 40+ there’s bound to be variation.

There are no more secrets.

At least Ken is not yet convinced.

alan,

had the same experience with a 67 oderro a few months back. i am glad it showed as well for you as it did for me.
it defintely was a special bottle.

cheers

Thanks for this note! 1967 is my birth year and I’ve tried to grab a smattering of 67 Barolo as a result (with predictably variable results). Swing and a miss on a Bartolo Mascarello, but I had two lovely Borgogno. I’ll be on the look out for some Oderro.

But I can be! I haven’t had one yet. At least not a `67.
