From half bottle this was remarkable. There’s some truffle and custard apple notes along with a hint of nuttiness. It has tinned peach fruit and a line of whippy acidity. There’s plenty of butter and a fresh finish with loads of tart citrus rind. More than just a curio, a bloody good drink.
woah! half bottle! dope. Love those old Bouchards.
And provided older whites have survived their corks - ie older than 30 years - I find remarkably little difference between ‘good’ and not so good years - 79 and & 80 are a case in pont - the latter should be poor by comparison but it never seems to work out that way…
63 supposedly not a good year. Amazing what time does.
