TN: 08 Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling Dry Or a $5.80 White Wine That Does Not Taste Like Pool Water

  • 2008 Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling Dry - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (5/1/2010)
Ok, lets get this out of the way, no this is not the WA ST second coming of Clos Ste Hune, a Prum Gold Capsule or any other high end species of the riesling grape. Now that we have that out of the way, I can objectively say this is probably the best sub $8 white you are going to find, anywhere. Proper and attractive aromas and flavors of freshly halved green apple and soothing citrus stay true to the ‘dry’ moniker on the label, providing refreshment and a dabble of complexity. Tried as I might, I just couldn’t find a fault, and a slight step of the 07. To buy by the case without hesitation.

I agree 100%

I keep it around to serve at parties, cook with, and drink with takeout.

Great note, awesome post title.

Inspired by the good Doctor, as in Strangelove, which I saw for the 45th time the other day.

Agree Dale, year in year out this is a great wine to sip on a summer eve or just as a great white wine to cook with and a bargain a 6 bucks. Also a big fan of the CSM Harvest Select Riesling, a little sweet but very enjoyable.
