TN: '07 Remi Jobard Meursault 1er Genevrieres

With the minefield that is aged white burgundy, i’m always so disappointed when I open a sherried meh bottle.
But then there are the times that aren’t duds.
When it is soooo good.
Like this.
Of what I consider the “big 3” Grand 1er crus of Meursault, the first that rocked me to attention was les Perrieres for its incredible sense of stoniness, then les Charmes for its richness and fullness of attack, and lastly and most subtly the incredible power meets finesse of les Genevrieres.
This '07 is as perfectly enrobed a weightless laser of flavor as I could hope for. Stunning, pure citric white floral aromatics. On the palate the wine feels like a weightless slowly melting flavor solid of floral/citric/mineral/perfume. The balance between its fruit and acid is masterful. I would love to feel comfortable ageing the other two bottles that I have for far longer based on such balance. Alas, the premox reaper seemingly always lurks, and I doubt that I will let them go 15 years.
On day 2, gorgeous still, rock solid. What a treat…

have enjoyed Remi’s whites but haven’t seen any in the market for years. Very good Meursault.

I once thought that Francois (now Antoine) Jobard was the Jobard to buy, but after a miserable premox experience with those wines, I believe that Remi may be the choice. The few that I’ve had have been terrific, and I believe that the domaine has a very low incidence of premox. Robert, are you handling these wines? If so, you have a gem.

Remi Jobard wines are fabulous!

can we please SHHHHH all over this thread…

Mods - delete. please.

I do not work with Remi.
This is a Weygandt imported bottle, whose wines I used to promote heavily in my retail days.

Fwiw, poured the entire collection of Latour Giraud '13s on Wednesday night.
OUTSTANDING. He really hit it out of the park in '13, across the board.

I have heard this from other sources. I must try them.

We visited them a few years ago; I was a big fan of the Perrieres–lots of good Puligny-ness on that one while still tasting like Meursault.

Great to hear. I bought a case.
