'02 Fourrier Gevrey Chambertin Cherbaudes-
This started off with fresh, plump, middleweight fruit that resembled the day it arrived. I really love the pure, tender fruit of the vintage combined with the pungent minerality. There was some high acidity but the wine seemed quite open for business in a primary way. But with air it took on a steely hardness and began to tighten. It was interesting to watch (taste?) it shut down in the glass. In any case, this is a terrific, pure and very minerally Gevrey that has not really budged and I expect it will need 5-10 more years in the cellar.
